Just wanted to go ahead and throw this out there:
Jimmy Cliff you are my true love.
The soundtrack for this movie is mind-blowing, FYI. I don't care if you don't like reggae, this is classic pop writing.
Spawned by a recent convo with my friend Olivia about deceased-under 35 artists, I thought to myself shit, I wonder if Mr. Cliff is still kicking it? So I went to youtube, obviously, then wikipedia. I found this:
And this
Jimmy Cliff OM (born James Chambers, 1 April 1948, Somerton District, St. James, Jamaica[1]) is a Jamaican ska and reggae musician
Emphasis on "is". Then I also remembered his version of No Woman No Cry with Erykah Badu I had on a mix tape from a recent year. Yeah, thats right. This mix tape also included the likes of Teenage Fanclub, Elvis Costello and Phil Collins. My point was to praise Mr. Cliff with his versatile songwriting that can hold its own with the likes of 90s pop grunge, 70s "spunk" and fuckin' Phil over there, but of course that song was written by Bob Marley, so this paragraph = FAIL.
I will now attempt to learn Sitting in Limbo on ukulele for the next few hours.
