I have no idea why, but those words seemed to describe what he looked like in this smooth velvety poster that was hanging in the studio we were recording at. We also though this was HILARIOUS.
Since then, every time I look at John Denver's face I feel guilty. He looks so sad! Just a real nice guy, wrote some simple little songs, and died a tragic untimely death. Poor guy! He just wanted to have a family and live in a 70's house with his guitars and songs!

ReplyDeleteJohn Denver did in fact suffer very badly from clinical depression.So much so at one point he was actually hospitalized for it after the collapse of his second marriage.His ex-wife Annie who is a psychotherapist thinks he may have been bi-polar.He had a thyroid condition and that can make you feel depressed and listless too.But everyone I've spoken to who knew him reckoned he was the genuinely nice guy he appeared to be on tv.All he wanted was a gal to love him and an audience to sing to.He deserved better than the ridicule he got in the press,in my opinion,poor guy.
